WATERS - IGUAZU
For a stay in Iguazú I must admit my special preference has always been the Hotel Internacional Iguazu on the Argentine side (even before it was all refurbished and taken over by the Sheraton Chain Luxury Hotel and Resorts. Just the perfect location with excellent service.
When traveling to San Ignacio Mini mission ruins (if you plan to do this your last days in the area) and you choose to stay south there for the night, or do not wish to make that long trip back on the day you can opt to be picked up at the exit of the ruins and driven to the Santa Ines ranch 60 kms further south, near Posadas, where the Nuñez family will serve you tea and wine, serve dinner and pamper you in the evening, and the following day you can go horseback riding,
or photograph exotic flowers in the park and jungle, until the afternoon flight back to
Buenos Aires from Posadas, or if you wish, return to Iguazú.
Las Mercedes, one of the few real riders´ranches in Argentina is run by the Lowe family, whose forebearers were among the first farmers to settle in Eldorado in the 1920s. It is located in the northern area of Misiones, some 100 kms south of the falls. They will pick you up as far away as the Posadas airport, stopping by the San Ignacio Jesuits mission ruins on the way to their ranch. From there, they take you to Iguazú Falls, Mocona Falls and even
Brazil. They have now also added catch and release dorado fishing. Worthwhile finding out more. Call them. Information tel 54 375 431 511 or by email lowe@ceel.com.ar
